Hi team. A little while ago Ned, Tim and I pulled together a little lo-fi set of 3 Dappled pearlers for MTV. I think we scrubbed up quite well, and this little session actually inspired us to undergo a more extensive project that we’ll be launching later this year. Anyways, these videos have just gone live, and well, here they are. I think they’re pretty rad.

Or head here to see it in the flesh and send to friends and blah blah blah… Enjoy!
I bet you wouldn’t have thought you would see it in your lifetime, but your favourite band Dappled Cities have gone to #1 on the AIR charts!. This is truly unbelievable for us and we have to thank everyone who has bought the record so far. THANK YOU!!!!
In their words we’re the “mover of the week”. In year 9 I won the “Elizabeth Ida Scott Prize for most improved in Music”. I won it because in year 8 a barely answered one question right in my music exam and then by next year I’d answered just over 50% with legible handwriting. It was good enough for them and it was good enough for me.
I feel the same way now - most improved!
Stay with us everyone. Zounds is just beginning!!!
Newcastle and Canberra, it was special. Thanks to the guys in Canberra who clapped out of time throughout the entire length of Stepshadows. This is, by the way, not sarcasm. You see, even though it was hard to stay in time, it was fantastic to see people getting into our songs. Supporting Wolfmother at the Great Northern is such a distant memory…..
Saturday night was incredble. We’ve never sold out a Metro before and it was a great honour. But the best thing of it all was playing to you guys. You made it incredible. To receive such an ecstatic reaction from you guys touched us all in ways we can’t explain. It was the best show I have ever played. Even better than coming equal fourth in the Sydney Uni band competition in 2003. Now, that was a night. We can’t wait to play in Sydney again.
You can now get our album on the itunes. GET IT HERE!!!!!! If you have it already, go and rate it or whatever. I can’t keep up with you crazy kids anymore!
What an incredible 4 days. The highs. Not the lows. All culminating in a delightful breakfast in Hobart. Heaven!!!
Anyway, we had an absolutely wicked start to our tour. Not only is it fun to reflect upon, it is also enjoyable to consider the future. Tighter. Happier. Funner. More goods timier. And so on….
Throughout this trip, I am taking a creepy bunch of photos with my telephone that I will put in a strange row and you can make your own assumptions about 1) if they are funny, 2) if they are relevant and 3) what occured.
Here it is!
Go on. Make your assumptions. Hell, write a story for our biography tentatively named “Dappled cities - no Led Zeppelin but better than Kyle Sandiland’s girlfriend”.
On a more serious note, thank you to everyone who came down in Victoria and Tasmania. Seeing the Corner totally rammed was one of the best things we have ever done and I can honestly tell you there is no better way to celebrate your album release than by playing a show like that. And to you crazys in Tasmania, you made us proud with your craziness. Ballarat, you are beautiful (thanks to that guy who pretended he cared who my great great uncle Peter Lalor was) and Frankston, good on ya. There is an over 28s night opposite the Pelly Bar in Frankston on Friday nights so we’ll be back in about 10 months. Well, I will be. And I’ll bring Allan. And i’ll leave Tim, Dave and Eddy in the car with the window down a tiny bit so they don’t suffocate!!!
On to next week! Metro! This has potential to be on of the best nights of my life. And yours!!! Please come down. Buy a ticket.
We also discussed doing some all ages shows soon so hit us up on the myspace and let us know if that excites you! Maybe listen to the night is young at heart while you are there too! It’s great!
We are the feature albums on Triple J AND FBi all this week. It means you can hear all sorts of treats from our upcoming album all week. Getting this is so great!!! It’s like buying a caravan and discovering a man inside who cooks food from the middle ages in perfect imitation.
Wowzers! The internet certainly does stuff. JB Hi-Fi have set up a little pre-ordering mechanism on their web site, so you can buy Zounds, our new album, 12 songs of dap dap, right now, if you live in Australia (sorry everyone else), even though it’s still two weeks away from hitting stores.
Some my find that heading a little distracting. And, if you do, I apologise…
But I don’t apologise about being pumped for the BEST DAPPLED TOUR EVER!!! Over the next few weeks we’ll be adding more and more songs from Zounds (and some from our other albums) to the Myspace. So make sure you check up every 2 seconds so you don’t miss anything….
On that note, if you are super serious about catching us on the “Wall of Zounds” tour make sure you buy some pre-sales. If you are regional, there is a chance rocking up on the night will be ok, but if you are in a capital city you really really REALLY need to buy pre-sales if you don’t want to miss out. All the info for purchasing the aforementioned tickets is HERE.
See you out there!!!!
There’s something you should know about Dappled Cities before we start, so you can’t say I didn’t warn you. Because as well as being a band of Australian indie rockers, who’ve toured with Temper Trap, LCD Soundsystem and Modest Mouse, they are responsible for Alphabreaks .
